During the 2021-2025 cycle we have stepped up our role as orchestrator and catalyser of change. With a donor investment of €275 million we mobilised €345 million and catalyse €550 million from our private sector and other partners, resulting in a program portfolio of nearly €1.2 billion. This was achieved by leveraging the power of markets: re-directing procurement, triggering investment, de-risking innovation and delivering at scale.
The events of 2025 reinforced why our mission matters more than ever. Climate change, conflict, market disruptions and resource scarcity continue to challenge global and regional value chains and markets. Yet in this uncertainty, we see opportunities for transformation, and even more so: an essential need. Our market‑led approach - putting people, planet and progress at the heart of trade - remains our distinctive strength.
In response, we developed a new strategy and consequently embarked on an organisational recalibration. Although the transition required difficult decisions, it has positioned IDH for a more impactful, agile, collaborative and resilient future. Our 2026–2030 strategy focuses on a new ‘how: the key roles IDH will play to leverage change by working on procurement, investment and sector governance. By aligning our structure accordingly, we removed internal barriers, created more space for cross‑regional collaboration, and strengthened our ability to respond quickly to shifting market dynamics. The shared commitment and solidarity shown by staff throughout this period of change was extraordinary. We are proud to serve the extraordinary organisation that IDH is.
Looking ahead to the future, we are optimistic. Not because the world is becoming less volatile, but because IDH is becoming more prepared for it. Our new strategy strengthens our ability to catalyse finance where it is most needed, broaden our partnerships, and build long-term resilience into the markets, sectors and landscapes where we work. We will continue adapting as we have for 17 years, bridging ideas with action, and ensuring that markets work for people and the planet.
To all our colleagues, partners and supporters: thank you for your continued trust, resilience and collaboration. Together, we are building the foundations for greater impact in the years ahead.
Sincerely,
Daan Wensing
