Living Wage Links

alt text

Across global supply chains, the concept of a living wage has gained increasing recognition and momentum as a business imperative within a rapidly shifting global landscape.

There is a growing consensus that living wages are fundamental not only to social justice but also to building resilient and sustainable value chains. In response, more companies are taking steps to advance living wages as a means of improving the standard of living for workers. Discussions on living wages are further strengthened when they are linked with related topics such as child labour, forced labour, just transition, gender inequality, living income, and informality, among others.

The Living Wage Links series seeks to bridge this gap by exploring how living wages intersect with these critical topics. Each publication in the series highlights how wage adequacy connects to some of today’s most pressing labour and human rights challenges. Drawing on well-established evidence, existing research, and widely used resources, the series illustrates how living wages relate to these issues while offering a concise and practical reference for policymakers, practitioners, and sustainability professionals.

We invite you to explore the first publication in the series that we co-authored with Child Fund that provides insights drawn from existing evidence on how living wages and living income contribute to the eradication of child labour:

  1. Poverty wages and the persistance of child labour.
