Making sustainable vanilla everyone’s favourite flavour
In recent years, the international vanilla bean market has faced challenges of falling quality, price volatility and insufficient product traceability. Food manufacturers and the vanilla industry alike are urgently calling to tackle these issues and their social and ecological impact.
To this end, we launched the Sustainable Vanilla Initiative (SVI) to promote the long-term stable supply of high-quality, natural vanilla produced in a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable way.
Our approach is global, but the work is currently focused in Madagascar to engage in the required sector professionalisation to improve the livelihoods and income of farmers, eradicate child labour and contribute to better sector governance and transparency.

Together with our partners, we’re working to develop sustainable business models, create positive on-the-ground impact and improve sector governance in key vanilla-producing countries.
