Towards a deforestation- and child-labour-free cocoa sector
Cameroon is the fourth largest cocoa-producing country in the world. But poor quality and low yields have led to expansion into forests and a prevalence of child labour. Our team is committed to tackling these issues at the root.
Passionate about reducing deforestation and improving farmers' incomes, our team of nationals facilitates and co-creates landscape programs and multistakeholder platforms for a more sustainable and inclusive cocoa sector.
Since 2018, our team has been working to facilitate the creation and operation of a multistakeholder platform for sustainable Cocoa in Cameroon through the Roadmap to Deforestation Free Cocoa program. We are proud to have facilitated the development and signing of the Joint Framework for action for deforestation-free cocoa, the Sustainable Cocoa Platform in Cameroon, and the 2023-2025 National Action Plan for the cocoa sector. We also play an important role in the Green Commodity Landscape Program (GCLP), including the co-funding of two projects with AMS/ECOM and Cargill/Telcar.
We create coalitions to take forward discussions and activities with transparent and ambitious targets on forest protection, sustainable production, community inclusion and gender equality.
